Talacre dunes

This area of ancient dunes is an Area Of Special Scientific Interest due to its nationally-important landscape and, especially, its colony of rare natterjack toads.

The toads were once common, but now Talacre is one of the very few colonies in Wales and is restricted to a small area of dunes near a holiday camp.

It was the building of such camps that led to the toad species' extinction, but a reintroduction in the early 2000s has been successful.
