I can't understand why Jamie Porter appears to have been forgotten by England. He has been at or near the top of the wicket takers in Division One for nearly 10 years.

Porter took an impressive 3-31 in Essex's 196-run win over Somerset that was completed earlier. Does he deserve a look-in with England? Hit the thumbs...

    Kent v Surrey 369-3 (target 501)

Delay at Canterbury with the umpires inspecting the ball for some reason.

Surrey's batters taking the opportunity for a bit of a change of uniform. It is hot out there today.

Dom Sibley sweeps Hamidullah Qadri, times it nicely and finds the midwicket fence.

    He's on to 95 now.

    Surrey 139 away.

    Notts 155 & 361-6 f/o v Warks 571-9d

Chris Rushworth finds a way through again!

Another big stand is ended - this time 75 for the sixth wicket in 27 overs.

Tom Moores is trying to defend a ball from round the wicket from the crease but one slips through his attempted block and crashes off stump.

Four more still needed for the Bears. They remain 55 in front.

  5. 350 up for Nottspublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 354-5 f/o v Warks 571-9d

It's all got rather dull at Trent Bridge.

And that's just how Notts want it.

No drama so far after lunch with Joe Clarke's superb rearguard continuing. He now has 171.

Tom Moores is providing a wonderful blockathon at the other end - 20 from 82 balls now.

Notts remain 62 behind with 61 overs left in the day.

It's just becoming a little too concerning for Warwickshire.

  6. Division Two latestpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

Glamorgan have just lost their seventh wicket at Chester-le-Street and only lead by 33. Craig Miles has just bowled Andy Gorvin for 12 to leave them 273-7 and facing defeat.

Worcestershire have just lost their first wicket as they chase a mammoth target of 386 at Sussex. Ari Karvelas has dismissed Gareth Roderick to leave them 74-1.

Leicestershire are chipping away at Gloucestershire in their second innings but time is running out to force a result. Gloucestershire are 157-5 and lead by 175.

One thing Kent will need here is discipline if they are going to win this. They need to focus.

I think a couple of their players will be going up to see the umpire at the end of the day.

  8. Escape for Foakespublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 353-3 (target 501)

    Kent are not happy.

Hamidullah Qadri thinks Ben Foakes has nicked behind, as does his skipper Jack Leaning.

They are off celebrating but the umpire doesn't raise his finger. Disbelief among the Kent players and the umpire has a word of warning for Qadri who might have said a bit too much.

Kent really need to break this partnership so you can understand their frustration. The umpire is wagging a finger in the direction of captain Leaning too at the end of the over.

Dom Sibley came to the crease for Surrey just before lunch on Tuesday.

And he remains there just after lunch on Wednesday, inching up to 88, leaving more balls than not, but picking up the odd run when available.

The run rate is 3.15 so far - and the required rate is 2.59 so Surrey can take their time. And Sibley is.

    ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sussex

An intriguing afternoon in store at Hove with Worcestershire needing another 331 to win in 66 overs with 10 wickets in hand.

Jake Libby and Gareth Roderick have so far looked untroubled in their reply, and on a good pitch with Sussex bowler Nathan McAndrew not on the field, Worcestershire may feel this is an attainable total.

And Essex do wrap it up with two sessions to spare.

Josh Davey edges Jamie Porter behind for wicketkeeper Will Buttleman's third catch of the innings.

The target of 466 always looked steep and although Somerset gave it a decent shot for much of their innings, the departure of Tom Abell for 83 initiated a slide from 228-4 to 269 all out.

Jamie Porter (3-31) and Simon Harmer (3-114) top the bowling figures for Essex as they claim a second win of the Division One season.

    Henry c Buttleman b Porter 3published at 13:07 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Essex v Somerset 258-9 (target 466)

Matt Henry not impressed at all by this decision.

The umpire believes he's got a nick on a ball that got through the gate and into wicketkeeper Will Buttleman's gloves.

Jamie Porter was already off celebrating but there were no other real appeals. However, Henry has to go and Essex are a wicket away from wrapping up the win with two sessions to spare.

  19. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Notts 155 & 341-5 f/o v Warks 571-9d

The second-innings slog continues for Warwickshire.

Just the one wicket this morning - that of Steven Mullaney for 48.

The new ball didn't work for the Bears and they need a plan over lunch to try and take these remaining five wickets.

Joe Clarke is still there keeping Notts alive, 166 not out. Tom Moores with him on 16 from 70 balls.

Notts still trail by 75 and will probably need to bat deep into the final session to save the game.

    66 overs remain.

  20. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 June 2023

    Kent v Surrey 335-3 (target 501)

Surrey's session, for sure - a wicketless morning for Kent, who can feel this match slowly slipping away.

Having begun the day on 263-3, the Division One leaders have added 72 runs with very few alarms.

The 501 target - which looked barely conceivable at 4-1 yesterday - is just 166 runs away with Dom Sibley (86no) and Ben Foakes (63no) having brought up their century partnership just before lunch.

Remember, if they see this through, it's the second highest run chase in Championship history.
