Hello from me

Typical weekend weather. After the glorious sunshine this week, the sky is looking decidedly grey. Anyway, mustn't grumble as I've seen enough sun to reassure me that summer is on its way.

If all has seemed quiet on the IBHQ front recently, it's because I was on leave and busy with all sorts of things immediately before that. So, apologies from me. However, I've been keeping an eye on our merry band of bloggers and see that you've all been busy yourselves.

Last week on holiday, we had everything from hailstones and downpours to 25 degree heat. It was great.

Fast asleep on the beach

Now that the holidays are over once more, it will be business as usual for IBHQ.

By the way, it's not really me in the photo above :-)

A letter from Norway

Dag is blogging from Norway

The weather in Norway is very nice. The summer has come. April was wet, windy and cold, but May so far has been amazing.

I can't remember such an early summer. The grass and the trees are green. The sheep and lambs are enjoying themselves, plenty of grass and sunshine. They like to rest in the shadows in the middle of the day.

When the sheep are having a good time, so do I. Every sheep farmer in the south-west of Norway looks very happy. The lambing went very well. We got many triplets. In Norway it is usual that a sheep is only one-year-old when they lamb for the first time.

I took one brown tiny lamb with me to school and showed it to the pupils. It was only 12 hours old and the pupils loved it. One sheep won't let her lamb have some milk, so it has a rope around its neck. Then I can grab the beast and hold it still.

This summer my wife, daughter and I are going to Orkney. I have become a true Island-friend (after I get to know Island Blogging).

We will arrive on July 14th and stay until the 18th. We hope to meet some of you bloggers.

So to everyone, have a nice summer.

Kind regards,
Dag

A message from Carol in France

Carol in France writes:

Looking at Dag's lovely pictures of Norway made me think of sending these pics to you of my area in the south of France.

The third photo is the most important place in the village, "la cave". The winery where we make wine; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault etc.

The fourth photo is a nice baby green lizard, now this may look cute but when it reaches adult size they are very dangerous as if they bite you, sadly, you have to kill it, preferably behead it! Before all animal rights lovers shout in horror - when they bite they don't let go and all the nerve endings are in the back of its neck. I recently saw a farmer's hand who had been bitten by one and it is nasty!

A new addition

This is a fairly unusual but nonetheless interesting posting. Regular contributors Jas and Mia got in touch to ask if they could, in their words, introduce the latest addition to Mia's posse and show him off to Flying Cat and the other felines on Island Blogging.

Here we are:

Note from ed: how cute is he!
