Thanks for this Ardnort, great to get a full explanation of the finer workings of points racing. This sounds like a great day out and I for one am certainly looking forwar to this. My other half is also very impressed at the explanation ArdnortRupshot anf feels it compensates in some small way to your earlier reference to "forced smiles" at the peerie neep - see you Saturday.

Racing is Sunday, not Saturday DBD. Think you have some rolls - mind an tak dem oot o da freezer on sunday morn. Thought the other half might be over it by noo.

Love the picture, did you get it from OC? I have felt for many years that the ness yole and the modern racing versions are among the prettiest of Britain's traditional boats. How about some more photos?
Hyper-Borean from Da Hunnispot
OC? Not up on some of the abbreviations. Picture was taken during last years round Trondra race as the women passed under the Burra bridge. I'll be taking a few photos at regatta on sunday and will put some on the site.

scallowawife from in the book of anacronyms
Go to the top of the class Scallowawife. I suppose the advantage of a bridge over a chopper is a combination of proximity and stability for photographic purposes.
Hyper-Borean from The hangar
did anyone else notice that in H-B's last sentence eight of the words had more than 6 letters in them, and they got progressively longer and more complicated as his sentence crawled towards the full stop?
scallowawife from haulin H-B up the class ladder
Up the class ladder Scallowawife, up the class ladder? I'm working class and proud of it.
Hyper-Borean from The remedial class
You are one up on me, Hyper-B, if you are proletariat with an edoocashun. I am lumpen, yet trying awful hard to get some further knowledge (what for, I have no idea) before I kick the pail.
