Recycling rags

Here are some pictures of our rag rugs. We made these using scraps of materials. Some of the material came from old clothes. One was made using a baby brother's old vest. Others used an old jumper that had very long sleeves and old jeans and shorts.
It was very hard work making these small rugs but one of our teachers makes very large rugs which must take ages! It was really fun to make and we would recommend it as a good way of recycling rags.

These are really brilliant! How big are they? Ideal for cushions, I would have thought. There'll be no old left on Eday once you've made your rugs and made the rest into dusters. Keep up the good work.

My dad used to make rag rugs a very long time ago. They are a great way to recycle old materials. Did you use a special hook to push the material through?

I really love your rag rugs. You chose some lovely colours and patterns. It must be nice in some ways to have such a small school because you can all look after each other & probably have a bit more choice about what you learn.(Wish I'd done rag rugs when I was at school - pretty cool)

I rug hook with recycle material and it is wonderful to see it being done on the other side of the country . There is nothing more satisfying in making something old back into something new and having memories along with it . Way to go ! That is what traditional rug hooking is all about . Keep the Tradition alive and well !
