sample a memory

I finally finished the sample quilt, when I was thinking how to quilt the sashing (strips between the blocks) I was thinking how the fabric holds so many memories and so decided to use that in the title and the quilting of the sashing and border, so I have written in stitches things about the fabrics and memories, here’s a selection,

first mini shirt, mum’s dress, daughters flowered flares, friend’s maternity smock,

…fabric’s used in this quilt hold treasured memories…

I stitch my samples with fabric old and remember the stories as they unfold,

You've done a lovely job on that. The colours go together so well. This has probably been asked before (if so, sorry) but how long have you been quilting?

Ellie from from very impressed

Lovely, IT, thank you. Is the sashing black or dark grey?

Jill from EK

Lovely idea and beautifully done as ever. Chrissie Mary fancies capturing her memories by doing one with remnants from herring sacks, floral pinnies, dungarees and old cloth caps.

Annie B from the usual

There were two old gents on the Isle of Man who did it with pyjamas...

Flying Cat from stitching&sewing

Ellie I have not been quilting very long just a few years but I have stitched since childhood, Jill the sashing is black the only new specially purchased fabric from the Colour Factory, Ness' very own quilt shop, if you visit Lewis you must visit Janet at the Colour Factory, thanks Annie B tell Chrissie Mary her quilt sounds wonderful will it be in Cathedral Window like they used to do with the flour sacks or is this a fishy tale, FC is there a photo any where of the pyjamas quilt, I have a collection of striped shirts but have not decided when to use them yet, thanks everyone for all your nice comments,
