harris tweed quilt

I have been away for the last couple of weeks first to the LLQS and then a week on the Ross of Mull, so lots to catch up on and lots to post,
Here鈥檚 a photo of the finished harris tweed quilt, we didn鈥檛 win but we did get a highly commended which is nice, the winning group quilt is beautiful and I am quiet happy to have lost to the quilters that made it, I will post a photo of it soon,
The nine quilters who made the harris tweed quilt are, Ross Barton, Frances Caple, Catherine Dodd, Pam Lye, Lilian MacLennan, Roseann MacLeod, Christine McRae, Ishbal Scott and Anne Williamson,

The quilt is lovely, IT. It would be nice to see close-ups of all the squares - I see that someone did the ferry, which must be quite tricky. The one with the fish looks interesting too. Congrats on your highly commended mention!

I really love the quilt IT - the design and the fabrics. Wonder what a similar exercise will look like in a few years time after Brian Haggas has had his way with the Harris Tweed industry. Presumably every square will be a close up of a peat bog?

Jill thanks and I would love to post photos of all the blocks but some members of the group give me funny looks whenever I mention posting photos of their work, if any of the harris tweed group are reading and would like me to post photos of their blocks please let me know and I will,

It would be nice to see close-ups - I wonder why you get "funny looks"? Half the interest is in seeing how it's done, don't you think? Annie B, I too thought immediately of IT when I heard about the Harris Tweed item on the news. What is likely to happen there?

Thanks Annie, when I heard BH鈥檚 comments I thought thank goodness I found the mills before he did, Jill I agree about seeing but one of the things I noticed when our quilt was sent to LLQS was that our names were not on it, it鈥檚 as if they are ashamed but they are not, for some quiet the reverse and some like getting things from other peoples websites, it is really weird but there are some who I do not think will mind so I am going to ask, as my teacher once said to me, people can only say no they won鈥檛 eat you,

How lovely to see the quilt again. I didn't judge the competition, but can say as a Director of the show that it certainly won my vote as winner and should be on show for all to see the glory of Harris Tweed and the marvellous skill of the quilters
