I've read this blog today and yesterday and I remembered that in 1985 or 86 I had been on Coll with a friend of mine named Val who had a house in Uig. It was a great experience and the isle was really beautiful. I will send you my e-mail because maybe you know where she is (I lost contact with her).I remember we met James a friend of hers and we went to the pub where she knew everybody. I am glad to be able to talk to someone from such a beautiful island. My e-mail is elemartsmart@yahoo.es

Rumour here has it that the Councillor created such a hullaballoo about the Coll roads that an extra 拢100,000 was found to fix the problem. Where did he find that kind of cash?

Elena, Val is back at Uig, so a postcard to her at Uig, Isle of Coll, PA78 6TB would get to her, but if I see her I'll get her to email you. I've heard about the extra cash, but it is too late now. They can't take the 17 ton paver back over the repaired road until the Spring so we are stuck with patches until then. The last bit is being done in a continuos strip, or it will be when the boat is fixed. 拢100,000 sounds a lot, but tar is 拢60 a ton delivered, 600 tons costs 拢36,000 and does less than a mile. Add in the labour, the lorries and the lager and 拢100,000 soon disappears.

Mercy, why do they have to laager the lorries? I thought the natives were welcoming and friendly....

Why on earth did you not take your car back to the hotel and save a soaking? Did you have to leave it as a deposit.
