No one talks about anything other than the road

I have worked out why we need an airport. It is to allow access to the RSPB bird reserve. And also to the helipad for medical evacuations. The road is barely passable in an ordinary car. Of course the chancellor is taxing all the owners of 4x4s because they are gas guzzling status symbols. My 4x4 is certainly guzzling the diesel, I鈥檇 rather not know what fuel consumption an elderly Fourtrak gives when it does 3 miles in second gear and takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on how many passing spaces are used. I do turn the engine off now if I wait for a tractor, at 拢1.30 a litre I鈥檓 not keen on burning the stuff any quicker than I have to. At least the tractors don鈥檛 appear out of nowhere round blind corners any more, they are all accompanied by a very large dust cloud. Roll on the rain.

I can not begin to describe how excited I was when I discovered your website. Growing up (in Melbourne Australia) I was not sure if there really was a place called Coll Island. My Dad's name was Coll Archibald McDonald and as children we were told he was named after an island in Scotland. (His mother was a Margaret McLean, perhaps that is where the connecton was). I was delighted to see how beautiful your little island is and I am now more determined than ever to visit one day. My husband Trevor likes a cold beer so I hope we can stay at the Coll Hotel. (He may even qualify for the Coll Real Ale Appreciation Society). Keep up the blogging. It's a shame "the person who can not be named" was offended. Perhaps he will forgive you if you tell him what a delight your harmless little "gossip" sessions are to someone on the other side of the world. I hope you get the roads fixed soon and don't find any more smoke bombs. Cheers from Down Under!

Odes this mean that the fuel pumps have got the extra digits added in now. I've passed numerous places that are still at 99.9p per litre and it's clearly just cause they don't have enough digits to make it over 拢1. Although, some a putting up bits of card with the prices on them! Ever feel like we're being scammed?

I have just spent a wonderful week in Coll, weather superb, beaches great and people so friendly. I think locals should get a rebate on road tax because of that west road!!!!.

Our fuel pumps have the price painted onto a white box on them. A laminated card tells you how many litres you get for a tenner, except it really isn't worth putting less than 拢20 in now. Margeret, lots of Collachs went to Australia and New Zealand, including a lot of MacLeans. The Coll Magazine has some accounts about the emigrants and hopes to have the back issues online soon(ish).

Paddled to Coll..who's the nutter, south coast who doesn't let you camp?....did it anyway...rudest man we've ever met....shame on him and all his attitudes.
