Forgive me if i am looking too deep but your blogs are realy quite interesting and Intriguing. As i understand it, from your previous blog, do you mean that you believe god,typically thought of as a he, is in fact, a she? It is, unfortunately possible that i have misenterpreted who "the beloved" is.Even if this is so and i have misenterpreted, it would be interesting to hear your oppinions on the gender of the almighty.

Apologies for not replying sooner to Paul from Glasgow. I have had a rest from the islandblogging community whilst I have been off sick. The answer to your question is that if God is God - greater than, bigger than, more than..... then gender is not an issue. I know that Jesus called God - Father - and that is the way Christians naturally think of God, but for some people the whole idea of Father (or Mother) is anathema. My whole point in using the alternative gender was to encourage people to think/debate.

Yes, if there is only one 'god' then gender doesn't apply as what do you have to compare it to? It's an 'it' not a 'he' or a 'she'. Of course, if there's more than one god then gender can apply (as it does in many other religions) but then that would make the basis for the bible a lie. One of any creature goes against nature, of course, so I'm of the latter persuasion, believing in a multitude of gods - none of which seem to have done much to warrant my worship. 'Tis all good stuff and what makes for a good argument in the pub of an evening. Cheers Gary
