Laurie Taylor is joined by Christopher Hitchens and Bernard Crick to discuss the lasting fascination of George Orwell. Had he lived, Orwell would have been ninety-nine this month but more than fifty years after his death he continues to provoke debate. Laurie asks Christopher Hitchens, a journalist who鈥檚 no stranger to controversy himself, why he鈥檚 chosen to write in defence of an author whose catch phrases, like "Big Brother Is Watching You" and "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others" have become the stuff of every day language. Laurie will be asking his guests whether Orwell's continuing moral and political reputation is deserved.
Christopher Hitchens' book Orwell's Victory and Bernard Crick's George Orwell: A Life are both published by Penguin.
