Kate Nash on why she's using OnlyFans to fund her touring

The singer joined Nuala McGovern on 成人快手 Radio 4's Woman's Hour.

Rising to fame at the age of 20, British musician and actress Kate Nash became a staple of the British music scene in the late 2000s. Her first album reached number 1 in the UK and she has over one million monthly listeners on Spotify.

But she鈥檚 also spoken openly about not being able to afford to tour and choosing to subsidise her income for touring by selling images of her body on OnlyFans.

Kate told Nuala McGovern that she feels musicians aren鈥檛 paid fairly for their music, and spoke about why she feels the music industry is excluding artists who aren鈥檛 from privileged backgrounds.

A Spotify Spokesperson said: 鈥淲e're huge fans of Kate Nash. For streams of her track 'Foundations' alone - which was released before Spotify existed - Spotify has paid out around half a million pounds in revenue to Kate Nash鈥檚 rightsholders.

鈥淪potify has no visibility over the deals that Kate signed with her rightsholders; therefore, we have no knowledge of the payment terms that were agreed upon between her and her partners. We do know that British artists generated revenues of over 拢750m on Spotify alone in 2023 - a number that is on the rise year on year.鈥

Kate鈥檚 currently in the middle of a UK tour for her fifth studio album, 9 Sad Symphonies.
