Nordoff and Robbins

is the UK’s largest music therapy charity. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation by providing music therapy and training music therapists.

Meet James

Meet James
Communicating isn’t easy for James. He has Cerebral Palsy, visual impairment and learning difficulties. Spending his days in a wheelchair, he has little energy to move his body, and he doesn’t speak much. But like most 14-year-olds he loves music.

The power of music

The power of music
In one of his favourite parts of the week, James gets to see music therapist Sam for their session at his school for children with complex needs. James finds the energy to sing, and to dance; he raises his arms and moves his body to the music.

Music can transform lives

Music can transform lives
Nordoff and Robbins work in schools, hospitals, care homes and their own centres. The positive impact on physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing can be transformative. A session like the one James has with Sam costs £80.
