Turning pain into power

Former Casualty actor, Shalisha James-Davis meets others, who, like her, have received a life changing medical diagnosis and a future they never imagined for themselves

Actor, Shalisha James Davis was just 28 years old when she heard the devastating words 鈥榶ou have a rare cancer 鈥 mucinous ovarian cancer鈥. Now three years on and currently cancer free, she steps away from the dramatic storylines of stage and screen to share her own real-life story and connects with others, who, like her have faced a life changing diagnosis. Still figuring out how to move forward following her diagnosis, Shalisha wants to know how they have navigated their way to a fulfilling life.

The series explores the undeniable realities of living with a life changing or life limiting condition, but there鈥檚 also humour, lightness and inspiring stories of saying 鈥測es鈥 to life.

Episode 2. Shalisha meets Anna from Wrexham, who just before her 18th birthday was diagnosed with endometriosis, a chronic and inflammatory condition where cells similar to the lining of the womb are found elsewhere in the body often causing immense damage and debilitating pain. The condition has had a devastating impact on Anna, but it鈥檚 driven her to advocate for women鈥檚 health.
