Two hours of the very best Seventies tracks, mixed with loads of forgotten gems too.

‘Whispering’ Bob joins Johnnie for tales and tunes from one of TV’s most iconic music shows.

The Old Grey Whistle Test began this very week in 1971 on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ2, back when David Attenborough was the boss of the channel. The first host was Richard Williams, but Bob’s the man most closely associated with the programme, and he presented it from 1972 until the end of the decade, witnessing first-hand some of the most memorable TV music performances of the era. He’ll have stories and anecdotes from his time at the helm, and we’ll dig out a few of those legendary live tracks from the archives.

We look back too at the first-ever Glastonbury event this week in 1970 with hazy memories from Al Stewart, plus James and Andy from Stackridge, all of whom played on the bill that weekend.

A great single from a Broadway legend makes its way into ‘Johnnie's Jukebox’ at the suggestion of Nikki French in Luton, and this week’s ‘One Of A Kind’ song takes us back to that post-punk era of ’77 with a Top 20 debut hit from a true musical maverick.
