It's your weekly fix of amazing music from one of rock and pop’s best-ever decades.

And Mike Batt, the man who created a string of hits for The Wombles, is here for a chat.

Mike was barely out of his teens when his songwriting career took off in the early Seventies, and although he’s best-known for putting a voice to the furry litter collectors from Wimbledon Common, he’s written and produced music for a whole host of other acts, and was responsible for 1979’s biggest-selling single ‘Bright Eyes’, sung by Art Garfunkel. Mike talks to Johnnie about that remarkable song and tells how one of the session players in the Wombles almost ended up playing guitar full-time in The Greatest Rock & Roll Band In The World!

All the regular features are here too - Johnnie’s Jukebox installs a Top Ten hit from one of Britain’s most-acclaimed groups of all-time, and something very silly from 1978 is the latest record to feature in our One Of A Kind slot. Plus we take a look at noteworthy stories, birthdays and events from This Week In Music throughout the programme.
