MPs are to hold an emergency debate today as pressure grows for the legislation on abortion to be changed. The Labour MP Stella Creasy, who proposed the debate last night, says it is wrong that Northern Ireland remains out of step with the rest of the United Kingdom. It comes hot on the heels of the Irish referendum on abortion - a move which Ms Creasy says has 'thrown a spotlight on the situation in Northern Ireland'. So far the Prime Minister, Teresa May, has resisted calls to act here, stating it should be dealt with by Stormont.
Plus, the principal of Bangor Academy had called for extra school places as they had been left no choice but to turn families away. Last week it was announced that 40 extra places would be granted for that school along with an extra 19 places for Strangford college. BUT that simply isn't enough to ensure everyone is sorted, including 11 year old Hannah, whose mum Suzanne we spoke to on the show last week. Hannah has written an open letter about her situation
Also, the PSNI say they won't remove controversial banners erected in a mixed housing estate in south Belfast. The banners depict the aftermath of IRA attacks along with the words 'Stand Up Against Sectarianism.' The same development off the Ravenhill Road was at the centre of controversy last year when loyalist paramilitary flags were put up. The housing association in charge of the development has called for all the banners to be removed.
