Eddie (David Barseghian) and Jack (Peter Losasso) attend an eventful rehearsal session
Eddie (David Barseghian) and
Jack (Peter Losasso) attend an
eventful rehearsal session

The band lands their first official gig playing at Adi's birthday party – on the condition that Adi sings lead, of course – as the family drama in which three reluctant rock stars are thwarted by their meddling parents continues. But will they finally settle on a band name before the gig?

Ìý

The band decides to rehearse at Eddie's house, for a change. And, for Jack, it's a chance to be near Eddie's gorgeous big sister, Lucy – not that she would even notice him. Phil, Jack's dad, is a bit miffed at first but, on the plus side, he gets to flirt with Sandy. Phil asks Sandy (Eddie's mum) out for a drink, but is surprised to learn that she has been invited over to Ashton and Carmen's place for dinner. Phil is suspicious that he has not been invited, too – could they be having a meeting about the band without him?

Ìý

Meanwhile, Jack is horrified when his dad tells him he loves him, twice, in the space of 24 hours, especially as he's not sure what has prompted it. Maybe he banged his head?

Ìý

Elsewhere, rehearsals at Eddie's turn out to be a bit more eventful than expected when some local hoodies appear on the doorstep. Luckily for the band, the hoodies' appearance coincides with the impromptu arrival of Phil and Ashton, and Phil immediately sends the hoodies packing.

Ìý

At the birthday party, Adi is ecstatic that the audience is full of girls. The gig goes well until the hoodies from earlier show up – it seems they saw the invite on the internet. Will Phil's heroics backfire?

Ìý

Adi is played by Michael Karim, Eddie by David Barseghian, Jack by Peter Losasso, Phil by Jimmy Nail, Sandy by Niky Wardley, Ashton by Colin McFarlane and Carmen by Nicola Hughes.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ TWO Friday 5 December 2008
The Barristers Ep 4/4
Friday 5 December
9.00-10.00pm ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ TWO (Schedule addition Tuesday 11 November)

Newly qualified barrister Kakoly has her confidence knocked when she has to defend her tenancy appointment to other members of her chambers, in the last episode of the series that gives an honest and intimate insight into all aspects of court life. However, with assault and battery as her first crown court case, she can't allow this to distract her.

Ìý

Tonight's programme goes inside the highest court in the land as a Government department and private company are taken on by local resident Lilian, who has spent tens of thousands of pounds of her own money challenging the legality of the cement works near her home. Have her seven years of legal challenge been worth it?

Ìý

Inner and Middle Temples are keen to change perceptions of The Bar as an elitist, exclusive institution, and hold their first open day in their 400-year history. Meanwhile, Chairman of The Bar Council, Tim Dutton QC, wants to dispel the "fat cat" label that some people give barristers. He meets Jack Straw, Secretary of State for Justice, to discuss Legal Aid funding which could have a huge impact on members of the Bar.

Ìý

The programme also meets the students who appeared in episode one to see if their hard work and determination has paid off. It also explores what lies ahead for this ancient and powerful profession in a world of increased financial pressure and modernisation.

Ìý

The Barristers is a co-production between the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and the Open University.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ FOUR Friday 5 December 2008
Legends – Nana Mouskouri:
The White Rose Of Athens

Friday 5 December
9.00-10.00pm ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ FOUR

In a career that has spanned five decades, Nana Mouskouri – known as the White Rose of Athens – is one of the best-selling female artists of all time.

Ìý

Celebrating 74-year-old Mouskouri's illustrious career, this ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Four Legends documentary features a revealing interview with Nana herself, rare archive footage and fascinating interviews with family and friends – including international stars such as Harry Belafonte, Julio Iglesias and Charles Aznavour.

Ìý

Viewers can also see footage from last July's farewell concert in her hometown of Athens which, following a four-year-long world tour, marked her final retirement from performing.

Ìý

In 1961, Nana sang on the soundtrack of a German documentary about Greece, which resulted in the German-language single Weisse Rosen aus Athen (The White Rose Of Athens). The song became an enormous hit, selling over a million copies in Germany. It was later translated into several different languages and went on to become one of her signature tunes.

Ìý

In 1962, Nana met producer Quincy Jones, who flew her to New York to record an album of American standards, entitled The Girl From Greece Sings. Not long after, she had a sizeable UK hit with the pop standard My Colouring Book. Hundreds of other albums followed, with a breathtaking number of international hits.

Ìý

Her appearance in the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, in which she sang the entry for Luxembourg, brought her a series of her own television programmes in the UK, Presenting Nana, in which she performed with the cream of British and European talent – including Petula Clark, Cliff Richard and Val Doonican. This in turn led to world attention and decades of hits including Only Love – the theme tune of the international blockbuster drama of 1985, Mistral's Daughter.

Ìý

As well as continuously releasing albums, Nana has toured throughout her career. In 1965, when she toured with Harry Belafonte, the girl who had grown up a shy teenager showed her true mettle. Harry, like many people before him, had tried to persuade her to take her glasses off to perform. She did for two days, but it made her desperately uncomfortable. In what could have been a major career moment, she told the established star that it was a case of "Love me, love my glasses". In Harry's own words, she won – he's still not sure about the glasses, however, but he loves her.
