Village SOS – ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning campaign

Village SOS is set to make an impact beyond the six villages featured in the TV series with a major ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning and Big Lottery Fund campaign to promote rural enterprise across the UK.

The campaign will offer support to people who are considering setting up their own community business as well as to those who simply want to become more engaged with their community.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning will offer 10 short online films featuring all six villages in the TV series as well as four other Learning projects that also received grants from The Big Lottery Fund. The four-minute films give an insight into the issues faced by each of the villages and how they set about tackling them. The advice and information covers everything from the identifying need and how to make a social enterprise sustainable to finding volunteers and getting the community on board.

There will also be a film featuring Sarah Beeny's top 10 tips for getting a social enterprise off the ground.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning is also offering a number of downloads, featuring ideas and advice for those who want to get more involved in their community.

In addition, there will be an electronic toolkit featuring 'I Love…' themed logos that can be downloaded and used on websites, t-shirts, posters and flyers to promote Village SOS related events and activities.

Executive Producer ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning, Kim Wilcocks, said: "The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning campaign focuses on providing information and advice to anyone interested in getting more involved in their local community.

"We want to support people to make a difference – no matter how big or small – even if they don't yet have the knowledge or confidence to start their own social enterprise. Whether it's setting up a street party, running a bake sale or using their skills to promote a local event, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning’s online resources provide a great starting point. For those wanting to set up their own enterprise, there will be signposting to the Big Lottery Fund and a number of other organisations who can provide information about available funding and support."

All the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Learning resources and information can be found at .

The Big Lottery Fund's Village SOS website, live from early August, will offer a range of tools and information to help people set up their own community business including an online community network where people can share and discuss ideas. BIG will also offer hands-on advice to communities at a range of learning events across the UK, and a dedicated national advice line where people can receive tailored advice on different aspects of setting up a community business.
