The song will be familiar to parents who have taken their kids to the capital to see Swift today as it features a sample of ‘I’m Too Sexy’ by Right Said Fred.

Taking another tiptoe step into the Reputation era, Swift dives into Delicate.

After a brief detour into Taylor’s third album, Speak Now, the lights dim and images of snakes appear on the big screens.

That can only mean one thing: The Reputation Era is upon us.Possibly Taylor’s most misunderstood album, it’s the one where she bares her fangs and lashes out at her critics and enemies.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, she said it was written from the perspective of a character that others perceived her to be – a serial dater, a manipulator and, in the words of Kim Kardashian, a snake.

For the Eras tour, she plays up to that image, dressing in a blood-red serpentine bodysuit to deliver some of the hardest, darkest music of her career.

But Reputation is an album that exceeds its… er, reputation. Songs like Call It What You Want and Delicate(which she’ll perform tonight) are simple expressions of vulnerability and love – written as she fell in love with her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

Earlier, Murrayfield erupted as Taylor greeted the crowd.

“You’ve made me feel, really, really powerful.”

It’s the traditional intro to the third song of the night, The Man.

Another from the Speak Now album, Swift begins Enchanted.

The ballgown she wears during the song is another topic of speculation for fans with colours ranging for each show. This evenings ballgown is silver.

Taylor is thanking the audience again

“My one regret in terms of the tours that we’ve done is that I really should have come to play in Scotland more.

“Look at what you’ve done. You made us feel so welcome. You’ve been so beautifully generous to us, even before we got here.”

“The volume of the singing, the dancing, you are performing on a level like… I can’t stop looking at the crowd. I’m captivated.”

This is Taylor’s epic. A 10-minute evisceration of an ex-boyfriend, said to be Jake Gyllenhaal, featuring some of the most brutal (and heartbreaking) lyrics of her career.

“I was going through a bit of sad time,” she once said of writing the song.

"I started ad-libbing what I was going through and what I was feeling.

”It was originally released in edited form on 2012’s Red album, before the full version was pulled out of the vault in 2021.

In a sign of how much her star had risen in the meantime, the extended version topped the US charts (and reached number three in the UK).

The original never made it higher than number 80.The song has become one of the most pivotal moments in the Eras setlist, with fans chanting some of the most memorable lines – especially the one about smashing the patriarchy - as Swift performs on a raised platform in the middle of the catwalk.

Now it’s time for Murrayfield to enjoy the art, the poetry and the epic that is All Too Well (10 Minute Version).

As is tradition, Taylor just gave her Red Era hat to a young fan at the front of the audience.

Next up, the song that inspired some of the most iconic memes, I Knew You Were Trouble.

Speculation on Swift's outfits is rife ahead of each show from colours of skirt and tops to the colour of guitars used.

Another topic for speculation is the 22 top, which tonight reads "This is not Taylor's version".

The Red section begins with 22, one of the night’s many guaranteed singalongs.

Swift’s outfit for this section replicates the song’s video – with a black hat and a white T-shirt, emblazoned with the words:“Not a lot going on at the moment.”

Over the course of the tour, she’s switched up that message several times. For the opening night, it read:“A lot going on at the moment”.

Later performances saw slogans like,“Who is Taylor Swift anyway?” and“I bet you think about me.”

By the end of the song, one lucky fan will be given that hat as a gift.

The energy is high and the crowd is feeling 22.

The only question is which lucky fan will get the coveted 22 hat?

Love Story was Taylor’s first ever hit in the UK, reaching the giddy heights of number two in March 2009 (number one was Kelly Clarkson’s My Life Would Suck Without You).

It was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet except, in an atypical Swiftian twist, the star-crossed lovers actually end up together.

During the Fearless section of the show, Taylor has performed each song a little further down the catwalk. For this one, she arrives at the edge of the T-Stage, giving the fans at the back their closest glimpse yet.
