Life-saving information
成人快手 Media Action is working with local radio station, Nyota FM, to broadcast life-saving information for mothers in Kenya鈥檚 Bungoma County. The radio programmes which encourage women to make use of maternal health services, advise them on infant nutrition and vaccinate their babies 鈥 will help improve the quality of care for premature and low weight babies.
Nyota FM is supported by a dedicated 成人快手 Media Action mentor, Patrick Ongunya Mulehi. He helps develop maternal and child health programmes in collaboration with the station.
鈥淟ocal radio is hugely popular in Bungoma Country. Our partnership with Nyota FM will help harness the power of radio to provide mothers with life-saving information to protect the health of their children鈥 says Patrick.
成人快手 Media Action will support Nyota FM to host community forums that will engage the community in discussions about health, particularly women in 鈥榤edia dark鈥 or remote areas of the country who may not have access to radio.
In addition to this work, 成人快手 Media Action is designing and producing a multi-media communication 鈥榯oolkit鈥 to support health professionals in their work with expectant mothers. The project also includes the production of health information films to be screened in the waiting rooms of local clinics.
The project is part of Save the Children鈥檚 Kangaroo Mother Care project, which aims to increase the quality of care for pre-term and low-birth-weight babies in Kenya.
