Held in conjunction with the RNCM Conducting Department, this concert is the culmination of a 3-day conducting masterclass. Conductors from a wide variety of backgrounds were invited to work with the orchestra under the guidance of Clark Rundell and Mark Heron. As well as the chance to compare and contrast such a wide array of talent, we will also explore what it is that a conductor does and why it makes such a difference to an orchestra!
In this afternoon’s concert, Brahms’s elegant ‘St Anthony’ Variations (also known as the ‘Haydn’ Variations) provides a vivacious opener and, completing the concert, the exhilarating Symphonic Dances – Rachmaninov’s last completed composition which the composer himself considered to have been his best.
Tickets will be available via a random ballot through ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Shows and Tours. Applications open 9 – 15 September with tickets issued on 16 September.
