However if you happen to bump into your colleague Giles would you be so kind as to
remind him of his own blog where many questions put to him need to be answered?

Being of a generation and inclination that uses their mobile for making (very brief) phonecalls, I share sevenstargreen's lack of enthusiasm.

Equally, the first thing that also sprang to my mind was that all the information-relaying devices in the world are only as good as the content they serve.

Not sure, but in the world of 'Future Media', 13 days seems a bit... tardy. Even in the days of the telegraph (medium, not paper), in fast moving news environments like politics, a week was considered a long time.

Have you considered configuring your 'output' for carrier pigeons or runners with cleft sticks?

could you, at your next editorial meeting, remind Giles that 350 people worldwide have criticised him and the new policy he seems to be in charge of.

They criticised in no uncertain terms!

I would really appreciate it if you would post the name and contact details of the Chairman of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ.

It is one thing to change the medium, but it is very much another greater matter to flagrantly blank-out the public.

Perhaps you may be better employed getting Poll Tracker working.
Arif Ansari (North West) hasnt posted anything since just after the Referendum and now that has been replaced by a blank space.

About eight hours ago I suggested that I wasn't interested in the new android 'app' and that I was interested in a reversion to version of the blog layout available here

Well, I gave the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ another week to sort out the rubbish which is now their new way of blogs (although it's not blogs, is it?) and can only endorse the above comment. We are waiting Giles!

What pray is the point of a app(lication) for any form of device when you have rendered your blogs, pointless and useless as a form of rational discourse?

See what I mean 400 characters lets one express only an unsupported statement - it does not provide the opportunity to supply references or supporting facts, background information or analysis.

So one must suppose that this is what the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ considered to be the aim of the blogs - just pointless jabbering without the opportunity to supply references or salient facts. It says a lot about the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's news gathering standards and how they have deteriorated.

Off to the Guardian (with 5000 characters) where proper discourse is still allowed!

By the way the only way to prevent rational considered criticism of your blogs is to convert this page to the new (terrible) format! I confidently expect the thought police to do just that. How's that for confidence in the integrity of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ! When you don't like the message, do as all autocrats do, silence the messenger!

What has happened to "Have Your Say"? It has increasingly diminished in the ability of readers to comment! Sadly, I believe the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is not interested to hear the views of the general public on critical issues. Is the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ too embarrassed with the views and opinions of the rank and file that they have to maneuver and re-organize the H.Y.S. page so as to limit expressions that the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ does not agree with? It was fun once upon a time when we could put our approval vote on certain comments. This has been completely obliterated. I would venture to suggest that soundings from the people do not balance with the liking of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ authorities. Why are you so afraid of public opinion? Isn't this commensurate with a freedom of thought and expression? I know this isn't the topic of this column, but you just might be an editor of influence if this note gets that far. I challenge you people at the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ to offer a poll positioned in graph form in which readers can vote to give some idea of their preference and position on critical world issues.

I don't have an android but I'm happy that android people can now view ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ news, and I don't suppose the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is going to edit their video players on this site so apple and android uses can watch without needing a flash player?

Like pretty well all of the other contributers to this blog, I couldn't care less about bbc availability on android.

What I would like is a response from your colleague, Giles, regarding the new blog format. Has he simply stuck his head in the sand somewhere and singing la, la, la?

He states on his blog that ""the new format is working effectively". Working effectively to achieve what, exactly? To shut down all discourse and render the bbc blogs effectively useless? That would seem to be the overall views of the people who have left comments on his blog.

When is he, or the bbc, going to address our concerns. Or is it the case that our concerns (as licence payers) are irrelevant?

We need to be told.

Couldn't really care less about androids, but have to blog somewhere about the outstanding Paul Kenyon Panorama into abuse at a learning disabilities care home.An absolute disgrace uncovered that will-I most sincerely hope-lead to tough guidlines on theraputic care,strengthen the NHS's appalling 'whistle blower' policy (which is basically if you blow the whistle you will be bullied and hounded out of your job) TV reporting at its most vital and excellent. its not more gadgets we need but a better standard of news and forum.
in many cases you get two opposing news verdicts "take your pick". then theirs what
i call knitting pattern news. "trivia" when major news story,s are deliberately being blanked out. then you have the x factor news about soaps. pop music. celebrities and other shallow stuff before ending with a brief uninformative news headlines,and it has been getting progressively worse, thank god for that gadget the channel changer!

About time. Good to have the android app available, I believe iphones have had them for ages already

The iPlayer app. looks great and plays well on my Nexus S but it is painfully awful and inactive on the Motorola Xoom tablet running Honeycomb 3.0.1. Any idea when it will be resolved, please? Regards.

I would love to have the ability back to download programme to my mobile and play them back as I did with my N96 - fingers crossed! My broadband is fairly pants so streaming is nowhere near as good

Do you have a Symbian version (Nokia S60 et al)?
These are STILL the most numerous smartphones out there - even if for a short while they've been outsold by Android they have been shipping these for many years in massive quantities.
I know the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ ignored the Symbian phones (BTW a BRITISH company) when it was whole heartedly proclaiming the iPhone as the first smartphone that could download apps (which was a totally false statement, by several years it wasn't), and despite still rattling on as if iPhone was the best thing since sliced bread (which anyone who has ever tried to make a phone call with them will tell you isn't true).
