The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ licence fee is remarkably cheap for all it provides: its cost is ,surprisingly, much less than that of a broadband connection. Future intake should at least cover inflation plus the cost of technical advances and innovation. In my opinion the excess of the cost of living over inflation should also be provided.
I hope that it is fortunate in its advocates. Reference to Trident and other politically sensitive expenditure does not help. There are many ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ supporters who would have no hesitation in putting an effective deterrent first.
