Mon surprise birthday weekend du Paris

Post categories:

Goodness it's been a week never to be forgotten!! In my last blog you will be aware that I was planning a picnic, pimms a clock style, in a park somewhere to celebrate my hmmm*** birthday.

Well I had arranged with all my pals to meet about 2 ish..But little did I know that a certain Major Tom had gone behind my back and organised something entirely different!!...

He rocked up in our morning meeting when he was supposed to be coming down that night! Big shock, and then he had something else to say…mainly that we're going to PARIS!!

Basically the sneaky minx had gone to my flat at silly o'clock that morning - packed the passport and a bag and was taking me off to France for the weekend - all my mates and family were in on it - some nearly gave it away - Dad and HP you know who you are!

Still was a complete surprise and topped off an amazing week! Problem was boys just aren't that good at packing for the ladies - undies all good - smellies all good, but my clothing options consisted of jeans and t-shirts and loads of jumpers even tho it's mid 20 degrees out there! And when you are in the most fashionable city in the world you need your best clobber!

He'd planned to take me out for dinner to celebrate my birthday and our engagement but hadn't packed a DRESS!!! So we ended up dashing round Oxford Street in London to get one as I wouldn't have time over there before we had to go out - quick cab to Waterloo and nearly missed the Eurostar!! Ten minutes to spare so all a bit frantic..

We were staying with a couple of the Captain's friends who had an amazing top floor apartment over looking Notre Dame!! Plenty of champers all round on arrival then out for dinner…

Saturday was spent pottering round all the shops on the Island - lunch more champers! Then out for amazing dinner at a place called Hotel Du Nord..Highly recommended if you're ever out there!

Lots more food and wine then as a special birthday treat we went to the Ice Bar - we had half hour slot at Midnight and you wrap up in gloves hat and ski jackets and drink as many shots of vodka as you can - chairs are ice, bar is ice and the glasses you drink from also ice - Pamplemousse was my favourtie (that’s grapefruit)..Yummy..

Ended up in a club which was a bad idea as we had all really had enough and should have been in bed - getting old now you see….Had fab walk back through the Louvre..and Pizza en route home!

Contrary to popular opinion the Major didn't take me up the Eiffel Tower..But if he had here's Chris's artistic impression of it!

Sunday my actual birthday was spent having lunch in Hotel Costes..Totally amazing place in Baroque style - i.e. massive antique chandeliers and red velvet everywhere…Except now I have a bad tummy from far too much rich food and wine!

Anyway had such an amazing time and completed the most fantastic week ever! I have also now bought my first bride magazine to start the planning!! Have promised the captain there will be no meringues though!!
Have a good one all - I am off to recover!

Love

Carrie

Getting beyond the age of clubbing is a depressing point in life. I sympathise with your plight.
Being informed by two acne-ridden youths - who look not dissimilar to Harry Potter's rivals, Crabbe and Goyle - that they've "never met a girl THAT old before" is the limit.

Horlicks and Midsomer Murders is all we have to look forward to from this day forward.

Going to Paris and eating pizza? Brilliant - insulting the rude nation. Good work.

Carrie, aw - what a stud. that will make all the other gals real, real jealous. Paris, how romantic, staying with friends hmmmm a bit dodgy that part.
But he did do well on the packing you have to admit. Just missing a dress and packing far too many jumpers, it could be a lot worse.
He's a great one for surprises your Capt Underpants - long may it continue.
Luv ya Pauline

Blimey lucky lady, tell the major to calm down! If my good lady hears of such antics I'm gonna be under pressure to impress with such trips!

AND you managed to get some dress shopping in! as us blokes say "give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile"
