060606_yh_david_70.jpgHi, it's David here from the Newsbeat team…I'm following the England squad in Germany…yes, that means I get to go to the games and no, I DON'T HAVE ANY TICKETS. But it was boiling in the Waldstadion yesterday as Becks and co. looked good for about half an hour and then wilted in the heat before just about holding on for that 1-nil win over Paraguay…the atmosphere was amazing, though - I must have counted over 100 St. George's crosses from different places in the UK…one of them simply said "I'm very excited". And the England fans were excellent - they barely stopped chanting all game, even though the performance was a bit rubbish.

100606_ob_garrido_125.jpgEven outside the stadium there was SO much going on, including a big stage where supporters of different countries could get up and do karaoke…so someone promptly murdered "Three Lions"…nice. The fans stuck around after the game, and then headed back into Frankfurt to celebrate with a few beers…would've loved to do the same, but I had to shoot back to Baden-Baden…but hey, guess what, I bumped into Coleen McLoughlin and the rest of the footballers' wives and girlfriends in a bar in the town! Her mum was there too, as well as loads of paparazzi, obviously. I just sat back with a beer and watched as they got up on the tables and danced…very surreal.

Got back to bed around 4am. British time. Knowing I would have to get up at 6am to present sport from here into Spoony's show. I'm feeling it this morning.
