Day Four in The Big Olympic Park

Chris Evans | 15:31 UK time, Tuesday, 31 July 2012

'Tis nothing but excellence and excitement. There is simply nothing like it.

Bumped into Bill Turnbull from ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Breakfast News, temporarily back down south from his new icumbency up North. Do you know I'm sure I spotted a Mancunian twang as we greeted each other this morning whilst waiting for Chappers from 5Live to vacate our communal ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ London 2012 loo.

Clare Balding, by the way is Queen Of The Communal Kettle, and in other news I'm worried about our equally communal but teeny tiny sink. It's smaller than the tap it's supposed to collect from.

In fact I'd go so far as to say that if the whole of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Olympic Park three storey Broadcast Unit comes crashing down within the next twelve days, I would put my shirt on it that the accident investigators will be citing the epicentre of the collapse to the carpet tile directly underneath. You heard it here first.

Peace and Love

The clock is wrong in your teeny tiny communal area Chris LOL! It is now 00.46 on 1st August and it's day 5 in The Big Olympic Park.

Hope Clare makes a good cup of tea and that you manage to get in the loo and also use the sink.

    Goodnight!

    Morning chaps!

From t'other blog - MaW - yes, it's the Stadium formerly known as The Ricoh! And thanks for the tip-off about the pies. I was wondering about foodie fodder, given that I'm leaving home at midday, to get the train to where Nic works so we can go together, instead of meeting there as originally planned. I'm happy with that!

Will also look out for David in the handball. We're baffled as to why it's not big in the UK. It was pub quiz last night (we won!) and we actually found ourselves missing our nightly handball fix .......

MC, if you can't be an Olympic counch potato every four years, when can you be one? Enjoy it - I'm just hoping you're not snuggled under your slanket now that it's August.

Right, let's get an hour or so's work done before getting ready and taking The Lad to kennels for his mini break of 3 nights.

    Enjoy your day.

Hi Chris: by the sounds of it, things are a little "snug" in the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ unit! I am loving the shows from Olympic Park - Vassos is just fabulous and sounds like he is having a fantastic time, and you are really capturing all the excitement taking place - it's terrific! xx

Cheryl: have a great time at the football. I must have missed this ... Randall in the kennels for 3 nights - I take it, you and Nic are having a wee trip away? If so, enjoy!

MC: me too - I really am getting square eyes! I was so excited watching the swimming last night, I was on my feet jumping up and down! xx

MaW: hiya, and thank you ... I will probably collapse in a heap next week!

I think a wee cup of tea may be in order before the fun starts all over again!

    C xx

    Hi Chrissie

We're not going away but Randall was due to go into Kennels tomorrow for 2 nights as we're off to Headingley on Friday to watch Day 2 of the Test Match against South Africa. It'll be a very long day - leaving home at about 7am I think, and not getting back until 10ish at night so it was unfair and impractical to leave The Lad home alone. Then when I looked into the logistics for today and train times plus the late return tonight, it seemed sensible to Kennel Mr Big Paws for 3 nights. He's been once before and seemed to enjoy himself - at least we know he'll have company with other dogs, and regular exercise in their yard.

Right, time to get a wriggle on .....

Cheryl: ahhh, I see! Makes perfect sense, Randall gets well looked after, has plenty of company, and you and Nic can totally relax ... job done!

    Have fun!

    Morning All,

The sun was shining, but it's gone a bit cloudy now...ho hum.

MC, I too am loving the Olympics, if it's any comfort to you I had to have two snoozes on Saturday to recover from Friday night! As soon as I get in the telly goes on and then off again when I go to bed, at least five hours of it a night! Stuff is backing up on my recording box as I've not got time to watch it! Still as Deevs said it's only once every four years xx

    Deevs, Enjoy the football xx

Chrissie, Don't work too hard! xx

Leaving at lunchtime today as I've got the boiler man coming to service my boiler. Was it really a year ago I was without hot water for a month!

Right best do some work with a bit of Five Live in the background!

    well done for our Gold!

Tennis yesterday was interesting - I'm the first to admit I'm not a big fan but it was an experience. We were at court 1 and saw the start of a match, then a couple of hours rain, and then a very long end match - final set (game/match thing) was around the 21/23 mark.

So I think I have seen enough tennis to keep me going for life!

We also got a chance to see the Williams sisters which was nice (female doubles) and the top seeded lady in the singles - and saw the Murray match on the screen while we had rain.

Very well organised, lots of helpful volunteers and glad we could be a part of it.

    Afternoon everyone,

    Wow, a Gold , and I missed it ............ !
I took Monday & Tuesday as holidays, expecting to sit out in the garden and relax. Instead of that I was glued to the telly from 7pm on Friday night , until 10pm last night , biting my nails and screaming at the telly . SO , back at work today, and it's an Olympic free zone, & I am really getting withdrawl symptoms. Mind you, my calorie consumption has shrunk considerably. I have eaten my way through the last few days. Well, its been tough..... rowing, archerying, horse jumping, swimming, cycling, gymnastics, sailing, phew, I've been so busy, I am glad to be back at work for a rest.
Right, I must dash, I have a cycling race to prepare for .

    Love to all
    MC xxxxx
