I MET A MAN BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHY.

Chris Evans | 14:56 UK time, Wednesday, 6 February 2008

I had a meeting today who bought a business that was in trouble fifteen years ago. He picked it up for £300,000 and sold it a couple of years ago for...

...£172,000,000 !

Not bad eh ?

I know it's not all about money but if I then tell you he went on to take over Great Ormond Street's fund raising duties and more than tripled the revenue to £81 million in two years, he sounds pretty neat doesn't he ?

His original business he realised was a vehicle for taking people to almost anywhere they wanted to go, mentally at least, for a just a little over a tenner. Any ideas what it might have been. Guess the business, go ahead.

We are now in business together, how ? I'm not quite sure. What can we do for each other ? I'm not quite sure about that either but I'm looking forward to finding out.

    That sounds VERY interesting Christophe,

Is it a ride in a tardis? He could've built one with the proceeds for the sale of his biz!!

Or maybe it's a Total Recall machine?

Or it could 'simply' be an hypnosis CD and you could imagine that you'd gone anywhere - your subconscious mind can't tell the difference between a real and an imagined thought - don't ya know!

    Isn't business exciting !!

    Good luck to you both

I hope it's not the chap who came up with the Sat Nav.

I've never bin told what to do by anybody else in me life, so I'm buggered if I'm goin' to let me car do it. Plus if I wanted to end up in a flood in Norfolk I'd find it meself. How come we're told we'll be hung drawn and quartered if we use our phones whilst driving (I don't, by the way), and yet we're fiddlin' around starin' at the Sat Navs. Brain dead, that's what that is.

    Grrrrr.

Sorry if I'm a bit testy. I've spent the day avoidin' Renee who's made 10 gallons of beetroot juice to keep me blood pressure down.

Not that I've ever had the slightest problem with the blood pressure but that's irrelevant.

Anyway, any damn fool knows it's not what's in the beetroot juice that keeps the blood pressure low. It's the fact that your head is on a low level whilst it's down the toilet pan after drinkin' it.

Plus one flush and you'll ruin your hairdo, then it's right back up again.

    Pointless if you ask me.

Is it the guy who developed broadband? Or rather the instruments - routers and the like - that broadband sails the earth upon?

    Morning all :)

Just a little over a tenner? Mentally?? Hmm. All I can think of is recordings.

Been up in Manchester these past couple of days so I've just caught up with the blog, it's touching to think how loved all these folk are who've passed away. Amazing. My mum's in the position now of just waiting, my gran's not really there any more, just a shell waiting to die. It's really sad. I'm wondering how many of her friends are still left, or if she's managed to outlive them all. It's going to be weird when she does die, because it's almost like she's passed away already.

Ah best move on before I get upset.

Oh the memory thing! My dad's been teasing me about getting old - I woke up confused 3 nights in a row at my parents' house, wondering where I was. Not done that before. Ever. Kind of a pride thing to be able to wake up and know where I am all the time! Talking of pride, and sat-navs, it will be a sad day when I am forced into owning a sat-nav. I managed to find my way all over the place on Monday, by myself, not getting lost at all, driving to places I've only been a couple of times before (and never driven myself).

Pancakes tonight hopefully as I missed pancake night on Tuesday!

Mmmm thirsty thursday :) grief I need a drink after being put through my paces at the gym this morning.....

By the way, can anyone let me know, what character (cartoon or real) did Wayne Rooney look like last night with that fluffy sort of beard? It's not Shrek or Desperate Dan. Any help would be appreciated. Might even be a childs toy.
