When do we get excited ? Does excitement get less as we get older ? Have you noticed we are only usually excited about future events.
When you鈥檙e a kid, you have plenty of time to wait, plenty of time to think about what ever it might be you鈥檙e looking forward to. So much time that when the big day arrives, you have already lived it a hundred times. You have used your imagination to be there, to feel and smell and see.
I remember staring in toy shop windows and just the pictures on the boxes of toys I wanted was enough to give me butterflies鈥

Talk about getting the wrong end of the stick.
Big day today, setting up some meetings about the new BIG IDEA.
Up early, already stoking the fire.
Awoke this morning with a huge German on the bed next to me, Enzo seems to be enjoying his time in the metropolis. He鈥檚 already looking at me again now with those, 鈥渁re we going for a march?鈥 eyes.
You know him being on the bed is no bad thing. You see he鈥檚 helping me for the future. ...

Morning everyone,
Feels good already, lovely posts yesterday, very genuine, understanding and magnanimous, well done.
So, I'm in my flat in London and I have a visitor鈥

Well howdy doody,
What a weekend, seriously, yesterday marning, I was as excited as a child at christmas who knew they'd got what they wanted. Yes the Ryder Cup, I know if you don't like golf you don't get it but just be happpy for those of us who do. Compare it to your most favorite thing ever and that's how those of us who love the game felt yesterday.
Things like golf are funny...

Went to bed las night at just gone nine. I was absolutely whacked and to be honest felt a bit odd. Even after a ripple and a bag of maltesers, I still felt odd.
I stared at the crossword, it looked like a foreign language. I watched a bit of Layer Cake, it didn't make any sense, I couldn't stop thinking how Daniel Craig had this huge muscley body but a small wee head. It was like I was on magic mushrooms.
I think there's something going on at work with the girls and I think this has a massive knock on effect on the more sensitive of us boys...

Morning blog babys.
This weather is becoming ridiculous, it makes me want to scream it鈥檚 so good. Another blue sky and another green tea. All my faculties seem to be with me, yes ...system check is affirmative. It seems I鈥檓 ready for another thirsty Thursday on Planet Us.
I had dinner last night with Sue Lawley. I know, can you believe it ? She is a goddess. Unfortunately her husband鈥檚 pretty impressive as well. A very clever man with a wit to match. The dinner itself was a very low key affair, sophisticated but not stuffy, very friendly鈥

OK, where are we ? Portugal, The Maldives, Los Angeles鈥
Sunny old England ! What a morning !!
Surely one must sciveth off work today, or at least picnic in the park at lunchtime with a suitable blanket and a nice bottle of rose.
I know it鈥檚 the end of the world and all that but it ain鈥檛 half pleasant.
Laying in bed, a freshly made cup of green tea and honey steaming away to my right, the sun streaming in through my already open bedroom window, the birds alive with the morning鈥檚 gossip and a four pillar pile up behind my head as support, let鈥檚 blog鈥

BON MATIN, LES SCHLOGGS.
Had a two part sleep, broken up by an old man鈥檚 wee in the middle. Don鈥檛 tell the old man !.
Today, the first thing of any import I am going to do is go and buy a load of healthy stuff and stick it in the fridge, from fruit to fish to chicken along with lots of water and some green tea. I鈥檝e been treating myself to too much bacon, crisps and cheese recently. This has caused the first sign of my ever so small but perfectly formed winter-man-breasts sprouting.
Arrived home last night, a little later than usual, it was the first time this year that I walked home in the dark. An entirely different vibe.
I decided to have a night in front of the one eyed-monster; after all I鈥檇 just discovered SPOOKS. I was looking forward to it scaring the hell out of me by convincing me that everything that was happening on it was going to happen in real life any day now but then 鈥
I saw my computer blinking at me and. I decided to check out your posts before settling down for the evening.
And here鈥檚 what I discovered鈥

Today's blog was about being behind time. However I still wanted time to blog, so I rearranged a few things and then after spending half an hour writing, went to post and the blimin' thing vanished. So now I'm double way behind and I know the phone's about to ring with a call I have to take.
So quickly, quickly...
Mum had a great birthday and is now in hospital enjoying her present. A pain killing epidural for her back.
The pain was chronic, so we sent her private and got her seen as soon as poss.
She felt terribly guilty about this, as she worked as a nurse for the national health for over twenty odd years but once the surgeon had explained that by going private, she was effectively freeing up her allotted N.H.S. space to someone else, it sat a lttile better with her.
So, have you ever done the maths on life...

HERE IT COMES AGAIN
Out like a light last night and back to normal this morning, a little shaky perhaps but the events of Wednesday night, now fading away to become another happy memory, where the fun will be remembered whereas the pain of the hangover will be forgotten as if it never existed.
FRIDAY mornings are the best aren鈥檛 they? I just spend the whole time thinking about what I鈥檓 going to do at the weekend and how a second must not be wasted.
Food always features heavily, as does my mum, especially this weekend it being her birthday and all鈥

More like the guy on the Euphonium this morning. Phrruuump, that's better.
Morning, schmorning. Slept like a buddha last night, proper big sleep, must have been a good boy yesterday.
Thanks for all the book recommendations, it's good to have a reading list. I'm a wandering off to my local lovely village book store this morning to purchase.
Went to a big Comic Relief "do" last night. It was at a nightclub called HEAVEN, very infamous in the eighties, still pretty popular now. Mr. Walliams was there, always affable, always charming. Little Paddy Kielty was there, a very likeable chap, cheeky, smiley, sharp, funny. A lot of people turned up to say hi and thanks.
Had a few beers and then took a couple of mates on to a bar that we always seem to end up at, I bailed early, my job is too important and life to good to mash things up in the week nowadays, besides I'd run out of energy and things to say and there was no one worth getting tired for.
I had to go home anyway because there waiting for me was...

I just went to the toilet for a wee and as I did so farted. It was the strangest of little farts like a nervous trumpeter tuning up on his first night in the pit of a new orchestra.
What a balmy night. Have you ever known a September eve to be so tropically sticky ?
The birds are already at it, a-cawing their way to the dawn.
Myself, I was a bed early after an exhausting weekend. I promised myself a night in with a CHINESE take away. I over ordered as I always do and there is now more in the fridge this morning than was on my plate last night.
It was a good night in as I didn't even get round to turning the telly on. A few phone calls, the evening paper and then falling asleep whilst doing the crossie in bed. Bliss.
The only thing that was missing was a little read of a decent book. I think I'll start a new one today.
Now what about that VW BUG of mine...

Jeepers, what a weekend ! I am knackered with fun.
Finished work on Friday and literally have not paused for breath the whole weeken. From sorting to playing, laughing, eating, having it totally large.
Coming back into town today on this baking hot September afternoon... everyone is half naked, as if it's the height of summer in some far off sunny clime. Birtain is so cool ! when the weather's like this, there's really nowhere to beat it. We've got it all and if this weather change is with us more permanently... we need never get on a plane again but then it's us getting on the planes in the first place which has caused much of our tropical temps.
AL GORE says today, we have ten years to save the planet, this I do not agree with...

Rafternoon everyone.
Been looking at houses, very nice, very very nice but I didn't get "the feeling."
"The feeling" is always right, 100 % of the time. It's the same feeling that tells us all when we're doing something wrong. Never ignore the feeling, ignore it at your peril.
Sat in Radio 2 now, came in to nick the computer so i could have a look and have a blog.
Everyone's revved up to go for ALL REQUEST FRIDAY and JOHHNY SPORTS LOCKER SAUNDERS has just bottled out of a bet...

So here we are, once again. It is always thus. I stare at my Chinese cabinet, atop it a travelling case that now does anything but travel. Bleary eyed, but today with a ridiculous smile. The cat hath got the cream.
I only wish I could tell you what happened last night
x
Ok it's now lunch time...

JUst woken up. BILLY JOEL is singing PIANO MAN in my head.
How many things have you bought more than once that you didn't need to ?
Since living in LONDON, I have bought no less than eight LONDON A-Z's, God knows where the ohter seven went, I certainly have no idea. I admire people who have stuff that's old, stuff that shows they look after things. My mum has the same bread knife she's had since I was a kid. Stuff you've had for ages becomes your friend. It reminds you who you are and where you came from.
I wish I still had the little tartan flask I used to take to school. Itwas the first thing I can ever remember having to be resposible for and it was always full of barely warm tomato soup, delicious.
Last week, whilst in the Lake District, I thought I'd go in search of another tartan flask...

I am rubbish at negotiation, I always ask too little and offer too much and then spend the rest of the time hating myself and everyone else involved. It's just the fight you see, I cannot be bothered with it. All that extra time and effort to shave a bit off this or make a bit more on that. The problem is though that if someone does get one over on you then it does take a long time to stop letting this bother you.
Chris Evans | 14:38 UK time, Monday, 4 September 2006
I know, I'm sorry, whatever !
The Golf was crazy, by the time they let us go to bed I could barely remeber my name, let alone face a computer and then when we'd done there, my computer went one way and I went the other.
Hope you're all ok, just finished sorting out tonight's show, the super food man will be back and we have a guide to taking the perfect bath. Something I've b een doing loads of over the last two weeks.
So what's happened to y'all in the last fortnight? I think I've ended up pretty much the same. This holiday was not one of those where you feel you have to come back and make a lot of changes in your life. A sign that either the holiday was too busy a one to think such thoughts or, that life is actually pretty acceptable /unchangeable at the moment.
