Bestival Summer..... End of the Season.
Its been an amazing summer, Glastonbury, WOMAD and London Mela the Live and Loud Tour's delivered the best of British Asian Music across the country.
The tour comes to an end this weekend on the Isle of Wight, as Pathaan, Bobby Friction and Nihal, Myself, D-Code and Soldgie take over the decks on Saturday night at Bestival.
Curated by Radio One's Rob Da Bank, Bestival has come to be the unofficial close of the Summer Festival season in the UK. It's my first one but from what I've heard it has the eclectic and worldly vibe of WOMAD with the full on mayhem of Glastonbury all under one roof, so to speak!
Bobby and Nihal usually represent in the Bollywood Tent but this year it's a little different. We're stepping outside the safe "British Asian" confindes and into the "Club Da Da" tent. It's going to be a chance for us to get more experimental and play stuff we've always wanted to but never quite had the opportunity.
It'll also be the last chance to hang with friends we've made over this festival season and get mashed-up to sets from the likes of Annie Mac and Andy C and live sets from Chemical Brothers and the Beastie Boys. It's also the last chance to run wild in fields.
Its been an amazing summer with some great moments, Tapan from Midival Punditz blowing off his European tour to stay an extra couple of days at Glastonbury and see The Who, D-Code and I smashing the Station Wagon at the London Mela to a suprisingly receptive crowd and Funcinternational having his guita strap knicked by the Marley Brothers for their set.
It's been emotional..
Roll on the 2008 Festivals!

Post your commentHi festy-goer!
We missed you at the Mela (was doing the sitar rhapsody) but am on the Dada stage down at Besty! I've been doing these stages a lot and never had any confines, as we are the Resonancefm experimentalists, but I hear you.
I'll be looking forward to hearing what you do on Sat! You probably won;t even be awake for my set - 12 midday Sunday, launching the last day of revelery. Ahoy!
