Classroom Ideas

Students could explore the impact that the Vikings have had on the city of Dublin, and the evidence that remains of their lives there. Students could use city maps or online street views to look for evidence of Viking life such as street names, archaeological sites and buildings names. They could locate Isolde鈥檚 Tower, The Steine of Long Stone, The Brazen Head Pub and Temple Bar and research their significance to both the Vikings and people living in Dublin today. A Viking trail for tourists enabling them to visit Viking sites, could be planned鈥 Students could present their trail as a colourful map, leaflet or role-play being a tour guide.
