The Tabor Foundation
The Tabor Foundation was formed to aid medical research and other charitable causes.
It founded the at the Wellington Hospital in St John's Wood and the . State-of-the-art Dual-source ultra-fast CT and hybrid CT and Gamma Camera scanners, the first in London, have been installed at the Centre, these will revolutionise early detection of cardiac disease. Coronary heart disease is the biggest killer in developed countries, killing as many as twice that of cancer and traffic accident together. 80% of the disease is silent, like a 'volcano waiting to erupt'! Outstanding research by our doctors at the Centre have shown the tremendous value of cardiac CT imaging in those with increased risk but without symptoms, such as in diabetic patients. This data has been reinforced by the American Heart Association. Development of non-invasive CT angiography and nuclear medicine techniques will save many lives with earlier diagnosis of heart disease. In addition the Tabor Foundation supports basic research in heart disease at the William Harvey Research Institute in St Bartholomew Hospital, London.
The Tabor Foundation also nurtures the development of young musical talent and has great pleasure in supporting the 2008 ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Young Musician of the Year Final and offering the five finalists the opportunity to give individual lunchtime recitals at the Wigmore Hall later this year.
The Foundation wishes all the Entrants great success in their musical careers and thanks the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ for continuing their tradition in motivating young musicians in the pursuit of excellence.
