Nigaz blunder

The Nigerian and Russian governments have caused a storm after naming their new oil and gas company Nigaz- bringing back memories of the racist "N" word for many.

The joint venture was agreed following President Dimitry Medvedev's visit to Nigeria last week when a $2.5m deal was signed.

Meant to be a combination of the first syllable of the country's name Nigeria and the Russian gas company, Gazprom- the controversy has played out on the internet.
