What is Bitesize Careers?
Bitesize Careers is a careers advice site made specifically for young people.
With insights from career experts and peers, over 500 job profiles, and plenty of well-known faces and places, there鈥檚 something for everyone on Bitesize Careers. Short films, quizzes and articles help bring the world of work to life. Your students can get a realistic glimpse of different routes into roles, how much they could get paid, and what their day-to-day work lives could look like.
What's on offer?
Bitesize Careers鈥 offering can be used as part of your school鈥檚 wider careers programme and is designed to help you meet the , with topics that can be mapped against benchmarks two to six.
Explore jobs by school subject
Help your students match their favourite subjects to potential future jobs with the 鈥淛obs that use鈥︹ collection. You'll find:
- Hundreds of job profiles linking to specific school subjects
- Peer-to-peer advice through short films
- Information on entry requirements, salaries and pathways into job roles.
Activity suggestion:
- Ask your students to head to the relevant "Jobs that use鈥" page for their favourite subject and find three jobs that interest them
- For each role, ask them to jot down two things they learnt that surprised them and one question they'd like to know more about.
Explore jobs by sector
The 鈥淐areers in鈥︹ collection introduces students to different job sectors (such as healthcare & frontline services). You can expect:
- Hundreds of job profiles relating to specific sectors
- Introductory films for different sectors, using Labour Market Information (LMI) to answer questions like: "how many people work in the sector?"
Activity suggestion:
- Head to the introductory LMI film for a sector, like the introduction to the science sector film. These can be found at the top of most sector pages
- Use the questions above the film as prompts, asking students to jot down their predictions. Watch the film as a class and then discuss 鈥 were students' guesses on track, or did they get a few surprises?
