From cowman's son to local heroIpswich Town's 1978 FA Cup final goalscorer was Lesley Dolphin's sofa guest on her 成人快手 Radio Suffolk lunchtime show in the run-up to the 30th anniversary parade in 2008. Roger Osborne didn't score many goals in his career at Ipswich Town, but he probably scored the most memorable one in the club's history. In the 78th minute against Arsenal at Wembley, when it looked as if Ipswich couldn't turn their dominance into goals, a weak Willie Young clearance found Roger and he fired home. Thirty years on and he's manager at the Rushmere Sports Club in Ipswich and he came in to spend an hour on Lesley Dolphin's show. Roger is a true local boy - born and raised alongside 11 brothers and sisters in Otley, he was the son of a cowman who only turned professional in his early twenties. The rest, as they say, is history. You can listen to it all here. It's not just about football - it's also about what it was like growing up in rural Suffolk in the 1950s and 1960s when his father worked a six and a half day week. The interview took place on Wednesday 30 April 2008. last updated: 20/05/2008 at 10:55 Have Your SayWhat memories do you have of Roger Osborne's era? SEE ALSO
