That's a wrap from us on this Wednesday evening of Championship football.

We'll be back on Friday night as we move into September, when West Brom host Burnley.

But before then, let's all cross our fingers for an exciting 24 hours of deadline day action tomorrow that we can all enjoy.

We hope you can join us next time!

    Blackpool 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

    And that is it.

Ben Brereton Diaz ends Blackburn's run of three defeats with a stylish first-half strike.

The question is, will he still be a Blackburn player by the close of play tomorrow or will that goal be his parting gift to Rovers before departing on deadline day?

  4. Postpublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Blackpool 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

We're deep into five minutes of added time at Bloomfield Road and the home side are not giving up.

Ben Brereton Diaz is penalised for a foul on Theo Corbeanu right on the edge of the box. Hayden Carter pulls it back to Corbeanu rather than whipping it in to the box though and the chance comes to nothing.

Kenny Dougall then sees a shot go wide right at the death. Surely that has to be it.

  5. CLOSE!published at 21:49 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Blackpool 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

The traffic is all going Blackpool's way at the moment as we approach the end of the 90 minutes.

The hosts win a corner and Rhys Williams gets his head onto it as it flies into the box, it just narrowly floats over the bar.

Close, but not close enough, which sums up Blackpool's evening so far.

  6. Postpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Blackpool 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

Another scuffle inside the box as Hayden Carter drags Jerry Yates to the floor by his shirt. Not sure if the officials saw it, but they waved a penalty call anyway.

Blackburn might have had a big let-off there.

  7. Postpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Blackpool 0-1 Blackburn Rovers

Jerry Yates has a golden chance to get his side level as Dom Thompson picks him out on his own in the box.

Yates turns and has the time to pick his spot, but his shot doesn't quite have the fire power behind it and it's saved by Thomas Kaminski.

The perfect start to Tony Mowbray's reign as Sunderland manager.

Jack Clarke and Ross Stewart combined for the opening two goals.

Clarke then danced his way through on his own to add the coup de grace.

A third win of the season for the Black Cats.

Rotherham suffer their first defeat of the campaign.

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Stoke 1-1 Swansea

For a long while it looked like Alex Neil was heading to defeat in his first game in charge of Stoke.

But his players found something with the clock ticking down, managed to apply some pressure and Swansea cracked.

Tyrese Campbell earns a point for the hosts after Joel Piroe had given Swansea a very early lead.

The Swans will regret not making the most of their first-half pressure.

  12. Postpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Bristol City 2-0 Huddersfield Town

The hosts almost have a third as we approach the end of the 90 minutes.

This time, Lee Nicholls is there to deny Rob Atkinson's header from close range from going in.

    Tyrese Campbell (90 mins)

    And they have the equaliser!

A high hanging cross from the right isn't dealt with by the Swansea defence.

Aden Flint got up to meet it, headed back across goal and Tyrese Campbell was first to it to finish with his right boot.

Relief for Alex Neil and Stoke.

Jake Vale goes down in the box and the Blackburn players and fans are adamant it should be a penalty. The referee waves it away though and instead books Vale for diving.

Time ticking away for Stoke to find something from Alex Neil's first game in charge.

Liam Delap has forced a late clearance from Matt Grimes but otherwise nothing for the hosts in this second half.

  17. goal

GOAL: Bristol City 2-0 Huddersfield Townpublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Antoine Semenyo (80 mins)

Huddersfield hit the post and should have had an equaliser yet remarkably it's Bristol City who have extended their advantage to 2-0.

On the counter attack, with Huddersfield still wondering how they didn't score, a long ball picks out Antoine Semenyo.

He switches from his left to his right, on the corner of the 18 yard box and fires a shot that Lee Nicholls had no chance with, inside the near post.

That's his third goal in three games in a week as a substitute.

Emil Riis Jakobsen has only been on the pitch for a few minutes but he calmly puts the ball past Ben Wilson into the bottom corner after it gets deflected right into his feet in the box.

That's their second goal of the season and they're still yet to concede!
