That's it from us on the night when Wales suffered a first home defeat since November 2018.

Robert Page's team are without a point after two games in what was always likely to be a challenging Nations League group, particularly when you consider that so many frontline players have not featured.

There are some positives to take from Wales' performance against the Dutch, but things are not going to get any easier with Belgium coming to town on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see whether any more of Wales' senior figures return for that one.

Wales defender Chris Mepham told S4C:

"I think the other night we kind of rode our luck at times, Ukraine could have felt a little hard done by. Tonight it's our turn, but we'll learn from it and obviously the other night was the big game.

"I think a draw would have been a good result for us coming away from here, but obviously conceding two goals, especially one really late on, is a tough pill to take."

Wales forward Gareth Bale told S4C:

"It was a difficult game. We didn't have our full-strength squad.

"The boys who came in worked very hard to get the equaliser then to concede so early after that was gutting, but it's something we have to learn, maybe the dark arts of taking him down, we need to learn from this.

"They're a world-class team and we're in this A league now because we deserve to be testing ourselves against the best.

"I think if you're the tier below you get away with that at the end. You play the top teams, you don't do the things you need to do and you get punished.

"It's hard to take but it's something we need to learn from, we're still a young team we have to learn from stuff like that and take it forward."

A little bit disappointing obviously to lose the game in the manner that we did, but the lads that stepped in did an excellent job.

In the first half we looked organised, the roles and the responsibilities of the players were very good, we were a threat on the counter-attack but lacked a bit of end product.

Second half maybe not as good, the Dutch stepped their game up a little bit.

It would have been nice to have held on and got a draw, it was an excellent header from Rhys Norrington-Davies who I thought was excellent throughout.

Wales' goalscorer Rhys Norrington-Davies told S4C:

"I feel like we played well today against a top side - disappointed with the result, to get ourselves back into the game, that second goal we're disappointed to concede. It's something we need to look back and improve on.

"Delighted to get the goal but with the result it's a disappointing night for myself.

"We all want a place at the World Cup, we're all battling it out, obviously quite a few youngsters played this evening and we have to show what we've got.

"We take a lot of positives from the games, but at the end of the day we haven't got a point yet. I feel like we could have at least taken a point from tonight."

It shows the lack of experience within the team.

I know we finished with a more experienced team compared to what we started but in those final moments Harry Wilson and Chris Mepham had two chances to try and bring De Jong down.

This is what Rob Page will be telling the boys and looking at, in the World Cup you'll have opportunities and moments like this where you do have to commit a professional foul.

It's disappointing for Wales, disappointing for Rob Page.

But there are a lot of good things in there also.

When you score you're most vulnerable in first five or 10 minutes afterwards.

It was a fantastic counter-attack - De Jong must have driven 30 or 40 yards.

"You have to bring him down, professional foul, then it's a great header, literally textbook counter-attacking football."

In a contest between two much-changed sides, Wales looked to have secured a creditable draw when Rhys Norrington-Davies headed home in injury time to cancel out Teun Koopemeiners' opener.

But inside two minutes Burnley's Wout Weghorst produced a fine header at the other end to condemn Wales to a rare defeat on this ground.

Still, at least the long unbeaten home run did not end last Sunday.

The final whistle goes and Wales are beaten at home for the first time in 20 matches, a run which stretched back to November 2018.

In the end, it is a frustrating way for the record to go.

There were 100 seconds between those two goals.

What's that line about being vulnerable after you have scored again?

We are into five minutes of added time.

Wales still have a chance.

Gareth Bale makes a smart sliding tackle near halfway but the Netherlands quickly regather possession.

I think Matt Smith has done well since he's come on, it's what we expected Dylan Levitt to do.

Somewhat surprisingly, the highest Welsh player up the pitch is Ben Davies.

He urges his team-mates up the field.
