A half century for Sussex opener Ali Orr was the highlight of the afternoon session at Hove, an innings that included three sixes.
Kylie Jamieson bowled an impressive spell down the hill generating a good deal of pace, as the New Zealander’ looked to step up their preparations for the first Test in a couple of weeks’ time.
Orr made 59 and Sussex are now 188-6, replying to 342-3 declared by the tourists.

John Simpson has taken nine catches in this match, something he's done four times now for Middlesex - and it is the seventh time it has happened at the club.
The ninth was Brydon Carse who was on 19 when he was given out caught behind off Toby Roland-Jones. Looking at the TV replay, it looks like it may have gone between bat and pad and the batsman appeared to ask why he had been given out.
Toby Roland-Jones finished with 6-35 in 18 overs and 10 wickets in the match.
I don't think they have anywhere near enough on the board, and with 44 overs available, Middlesex appear to have more than enough time secure the win.

It was about 16:40 yesterday that Yorkshire dismissed Dom Sibley - and they have been searching for their next wicket ever since.
Will Rhodes is 98 not out and Sam Hain has 92 - the Warwickshire pair having so far added 197 for the fourth wicket.
The lead is 17 and barring a sudden clatter of wickets following the interval, it looks like we are heading for a draw.

Given they only need 117, it should be more of a run saunter.
