Rory Burns hung in there. He could have counter-punched a little bit earlier. And him falling to Mohammed Shami wicket feels like a big momentum shift. If England would have started tomorrow with Burns and Joe Root, who have both got runs this summer, they would have been in a stronger position.

Rory Burns was given out lbw with four overs left in the day.

He went upstairs, with a review, but the decision stood with the technology showing the ball was thudding into leg stump.

Rory Burns and Joe Root shared 85 for the third wicket, with both digging in, before finding the boundaries and runs easier to come by.

The rest of England's attack did OK, but I would have expected a little more. These are very English conditions so England need more from Sam Curran, Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood.

Dom Sibley and Rory Burns battled hard to get England to tea without losing a wicket, but Sibley and then Haseeb Hameed, in his first Test in almost five years, were both dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the first over after tea.

James Anderson wasn't at his best earlier in the summer but he went away and made the most of the break - a lesson to all players that if things are not working go away at understand your game and what you do well.

At 39, how long can he go on for? I don't think we should put a time limit on it. Because he is still England's best outfielder it helps his cricket. If he was a bit of a cart horse he would probably be out the team by now.

India would have hoped for 400 but with their batting line up you always know that the last few wickets can go down for not many runs. You have to give credit to England's bowlers.

James Anderson has just said "India probably have the edge" on Sky Sports, but a couple of partnerships would mean England get up near, if not beyond, India's 364.

England did eventually wrap up the tail with James Anderson completing his 31st five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

England didn't help their own cause during their attempts to wrap up the India tail with two dropped chances and three missed run-out opportunities.

There has been £486,950 raised for the Ruth Strauss Foundation already in this Test.

    It is another extraordinary effort.

I would still want to be India's dressing room but if you said at the start of the day England would bowl them out for 360 odd I would have bit your hand off. England were excellent with the ball but there are still improvements needed with the fielding.

Rishabh Pant nicked Mark Wood behind and Mohammed Shami chipped up a simple catch to mid-wicket as England continued to battle their way back into the game.

England got off to the perfect start this morning with Ollie Robinson dismissing centurion KL Rahul with the second ball of the day, while James Anderson had Ajinkya Rahane caught at slip from his first ball.

A battling day all around for England. But they are still in the game. India look a little bit weary coming off.

England took the final seven India wickets for 88 runs this morning and have then reached 119-3 at close.

A pretty honours-even day truth be told.

As is often the case day three is going to be a long way to deciding the fate of this game.

Jonny Bairstow is solidly in behind the final ball of the day.
