  3. Battle of the WBBL heavyweightspublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2019

    Sheffield Hatters v Sevenoaks Suns

There will be a new name on the WBBL Cup this season with two of the league's biggest hitters - Sheffield Hatters and Sevenoaks Suns - making their first appearance in the final.

Sevenoaks will go into the heavyweight tussle as slight favourites having won the Championship and Play-offs last season.

They top the current standings with a perfect 11-0 record and also beat opponents Sheffield 76-67 at home in their only previous encounter this season.

But the Hatters, who are third in the Championship, are no strangers to silverware.

The country's first ever women's basketball team did the Championship and Play-off double in the WBBL's inaugural season - 2014-15.

Sheffield also have class players like Helen Naylor - the first to reach 1,000 points in the WBBL Championship - so will be hopeful they can claim a first title since winning the Betty Codona Trophy in 2016.
