Head coach Luke Williams says he is looking to add another goalkeeper to his Swansea City squad after confirming that Andy Fisher has undergone surgery.

Fisher looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a groin injury.

The 26-year-old picked up the injury when striking the ball during the pre-season friendly against FC Koln last month.

"He's had surgery. He's going to be [out] a while now in terms of recovery," said Williams.

"He's going to be away from the training pitch for a few weeks and is going to need some time now to get back into training and be ready to play".

Fisher's absence means that Williams will now look to add support to current first-choice keeper Lawrence Vigoroux, who signed from Burnley last month.

Not for the first time, Williams has teased the possibility of the return of Brighton's Carl Rushworth, who impressed on loan at the Championship club last season.

"I'd never say never. Is there a better, stronger goalkeeping department than Vigouroux and Rushworth in the same squad?" added Williams.

"We're always going to be looking for someone to come in and challenge. In every position you try to find a player better than the one you've already got.

"This way you have really good, healthy competition, and if something happens you're protected."
