"To leave a human being in the road, bleeding out, alone, like roadkill...that's inhumane."

Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

A teenager from Colchester says justice hasn't been done - after the motorist who hit her motorbike and then drove off, escaped a prison sentence. Lucy Sturgess was just seventeen when she was knocked down, suffering an open fracture and severe damage to her foot and ankle. The man who hit her didn't have insurance or a valid licence, and just left her by the side of the road. He was sentenced to five months in prison but it was suspended for 18 months, he was made to do 120 hours of unpaid work, banned from driving for a year and to carry out a rehabilitation activity. There is now a new law of "Causing Serious Injury by Careless Driving" but it's only just come into force. 成人快手 Essex's Sonia Watson spoke to Lucy Sturgess.
