The US plant that returned from extinction with a little help from President Obama
NewsdayAvailable for over a year
Ten years ago this week, Daniel Gluesenkamp was driving across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco when he spotted a plant he hadn鈥檛 seen before. Upon further investigation it was confirmed to be a native plant - the Manzanita or Little Apple - thought to be extinct since the end of the Second World War. Daniel told Newsday about his decade-long battle to bring the plant back from the point of extinction: (Pic: Manzanita plant; Credit: Michael Chasse)
