One of Suffolks leading amateur choirs, the Burgate Singers, founded in 1977,are based on the Norfolk Suffolk border. Our repertoire ranges from Bach, Handel, Mozart to Gilbert and Sullivan, Rachmaninov and Stravinsky. The Burgate Singers aim for professional standards and engage the services of professional musicians for concerts. Musical director, Alain Judd, studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music with Dame Eva Turner, has performed at Glyndebourne and the Royal Opera House, and combines a freelance singing career with training and conducting the Burgate Singers. The choir performs in local churches and the Corn Hall, Diss. Earlier this year the Burgate Singers recorded on location, in Burgate Village Hall, music specially written by composer, Derek Bourgeois, for a Radio 4 Afternoon Play about a choir, Places Where They Sing by Ellen Dryden

The British Library and British Museum Singers draw membership from staff, readers and friends of both institutions. Programs often include material held in the Music Collections of the British Library. This performance will celebrate the launch of the original manuscript of Handel's Messiah via the British Library's Turning the Pages technology. The concert will be conducted by Peter Hellyer and accompanied by Jonathan Summers.
