Shortkut is a young, heart-warming comedy about the trials and tribulations of two con artists - a struggling director and actor. They are caught in crazy situations when pursuing their tinsel-town dreams!
Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna) is an aspiring assistant director whilst Chandu (Arshad Warsi), is a wannabe junior artiste. Both men come across each other whilst struggling to make it in the film industry.
While Shekhar is supremely talented and confident, Chandu is a buffoon thinking he is God’s gift to Bollywood! As luck would have it, Chandu manages to steal Shekhar’s prized script and is catapulted to super- stardom.
Following this incident, Shekhar plunges into a phase of self-pity and dejection. Even his wife Mansi (Amrita Rao) leaves him! Shattered, Shekhar is now looking for that golden chance to get even with Chandu.Ìý
What follows is an absolute hilarious tale of con, deceit, super-stardom and subsequent fall. Shot in the picturesque locales of Thailand, Shortkut comes with a generous dose of splitting laughter and emotions that tug your heartstrings.
The movie is produced by Anil Kapoor (of Slumdog Millionaire fame) after the critical success of Gandhi My Father.
Director Neeraj Vora's previous release, Phir Hera Pheri was a smash hit at the UK box office. Once again he is onto a winner with a novel plot interspersed with humorous moments.
