New York city forms the backdrop for this contemporary drama based on friendship. It is a story of three close friends whose lives are turned upside down after the 9/11 attacks

University student Sam (John Abraham) is the star of the campus. Athletic, good looking and intelligent in character, Sam is very popular in New York State University.

New York born and bred Maya (Katrina Kaif), is Sam’s classmate. A beautiful, vivacious girl by nature, Maya fills the campus with her cheer and fun-loving attitude.

Three close friends in New York

Omar (Neil Nitin) is a middle class Indian boy from Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. He is an intelligent student who gets a scholarship to come and study at the university.

Omar has gone abroad for the first time in his life and soon enough begins to see and love America through the eyes of his American friends – Sam (John Abraham) and Maya (Katrina Kaif).

It is the story of these three friends discovering a new world together. But one day the same world around them changes due to the 9/11 attacks.

Onto the scene enters Roshan (Irrfan Khan), an FBI undercover agent who is ready to go to any lengths to protect the freedom of the America people.

He kick starts a series of tumultuous events that turn the lives of these friends into a dangerous and thrilling roller coaster ride.

New York is directed by Kabir Khan whose previous release Kabul Express did not do well at the UK box office but nevertheless won critical acclaim at an international level.

Once again, Khan experiments with factual knowledge in his latest venture by tackling the effects and trauma of international terrorism.

The movie has been shot in New York and Philadelphia. It is a slick production from Yash Raj Films matching Hollywood standards of filmmaking showing once again that Bollywood is coming of age in terms of story telling.
