Sunday ferries here we come! Hurrah... long overdue.
Trisha from Stornoway
Trisha - if they lose 拢4m sailing six days then they are going to lose another 1/2million or so sailing an extra day! Does that make sense to you or are you willing to pay double to travel on Sunday ?

Frankly I am amazed at those losses, especially on the Ullapool - Stornoway route. CalMac is going to have to learn to hedge fuel costs. I wonder at what financial point the Executive decides they won't bail them out. A few years of paying losses like that and it'd be sensible to start looking at building a tunnel!

Quote: <A few years of paying losses like that and it'd be sensible to start looking at building a tunnel!> Don't give Comhairle nan Eilean any more daft ideas, Bluewave: they're already thinking seriously about physically bridging the gap between Harris and the Uists with causeways/bridges, an unnecessary scheme which will cost a load more than the 拢70 million estimated, and which is pretty much a carte blanche for the car culture to wreak more havoc on the environment. It will take away all the massive CO2 savings (ha ha ha!) of the Amec/BMP commercial windfarm schemes.

A causeway could have turbines built into it, thus lessening its wickedness.

All very well Flying Cat but every drunk in the Western Ises would crash into the damn things.
