if anyone else attends this event and actually sees Arnish Lighthouse in person - can they please tell the rest of us what he looks like? does he really exist?
very curious from outwith Faclan
I went to the Mairi Hedderwick talk and had a good look around but couldn't see any lighthouses anywhere, apart from the An Lanntair logo of course. Were you there Arnish?
BoB from Lewis
Looks like Ernest Borgnine, though my wife thinks he resembles Jack Palance more. No, not Omar Sharif. I refuse to think that the Alec Guinness look alike was Arnish himself. But Arnish could be a she - though I doubt it.

I believe Arnish Lighthouse is very flashy.

What's this with who I am? BoB, I attended the Mairi Hedderwick lecture. Did you see her poor teddy?
Arnish Lighthouse from Stornoway
Mairi's poor teddy? Who gave the powerpoint presentation: Mairi or the teddy? Anyway, BoB did not see any Lighthouse (how tall and how old is that lighthouse anyway? Is there a residence attached to it?). Were you buried in a toddy, BoB?

I have it from deep background source at NHS Western Isles that Arnish looks like Lee Marvin (Who Killed Liberty Valance?), not the main character of High Noon. Who knows (this being modern Europe) perhaps Fernandel or Bourvil? Would the real Arnish Lighthouse stand up?

is it true AL is very tall, pale, and blinks a lot?
curious from all at sea
A blink's as good as a nod to a blind cat..................... AL, being fully automated and no longer alive with the sound of happy keepers, is occasionally tinkered about with by men carrying toolkits. A tool-kit, on the other paw, is a cat with P.E.T. certification.
Flying Cat from a helipad near you
"drinks a lot"? Not that I know of. Not on a Sunday, anyway (I am sure!). {Kidding! Appearances notwithstanding, I am not dyslexic). Whaddya drink anyway, AL?
