Eishken windfarm

You are a boon to your community Arnish. As you folks realize: numbers which come down can later go up. From 153 to slightly more than half: and THEN? Remember, as with taxes such as the VAT, so with windmills: sequential increases, that is the game. It's the proverbial foot in the door. Good ole landowner Nick, he wants you to thank him for bringing Christmas ahead of time (heaven knows whether he thinks the present is the windmill farm, or the project -temporary- decrease in the number of windmills, I don't know). Of course, unless Mr. N. Oppenheimer binds himself legally never to ask for or permit the land - in perpetuity (irrespective of subsequent owner) - to harbor more than 53 windmills, the game is stacked.

Mjc, thanks for compliment. I don't know if you're aware, but nobody lives in the entire area of Eishken, bar those that work the estate from the estate lodge. Check my entry on Deserted Villages, some time ago.

No Arnish, I was not, and it does throw a somewhat different light on a windmill farm on the Eishken estate. My general objections to windmill farms in populated areas, specially when any significant part of the economy is dependent on tourism, still stand. Any ecological impact in the case of Eishken may or may not be overwhelming/determinant. Thanks for the supplementary info. Arnish. I assume Lighhouse is merely part of your moniker: do you live in one, or do you just like lighthouses?

Forget the question about the moniker. I finally (at last?) spied the info. on you top right of page and about your looking at the lighthouse etc. Nice lighthouse.

MJC, the lighthouse in the animated GIF at the top of the blog is NOT Arnish Lighthouse. Have a look at this entry to see what my comments refer to: http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/islandblogging/blogs/005132/0000006552.shtml
