Webcam

Today is actually quite a nice day in the island, in spite of the showers that are sweeping across. Much better than yesterday, when my namesake across the water was on all day. I keep the webcam trained on the lighthouse and the coastguard station. I am also able to check who is watching it, and who visit the associated website. As most people in the island will be aware, there are a couple of beacons along the channel into Stornoway Harbour. Apart from Arnish Lighthouse, there is a small red buoy, just offshore the lighthouse, to keep vessels from going too closely in to shore. There used to be a light stand, but this was destroyed in a violent storm in 1983. Across the water, there is a green light, situated just below Stoneyfields Farm. The little red buoy flashes red at night, which is picked up by the webcam. I refer to it in the little guide that can be seen on the website.
The other day, someone Googled his way to my little webcam using the search terms: "red light webcam". I won't say where this person was from, but he found his red light. Possibly not the variety he was looking for though.
The weblink to the cam can be found in the column to the right of the entry.
